Autumn SVO and SVOP Sentence Building Activities

Practice sentence building with autumn scenes, from picking apples and raking leaves to painting pumpkins and trick-or-treating.

This resource uses colour coding from the Colourful Semantics approach to help children organise the different parts of a sentence: who, doing what, what and where. Begin with SVO sentences, then build longer descriptions by adding information about place.

This resource consists of:

  • 16 autumn SVO activities

  • 16 autumn SVOP activities

  • Colour-coded sentence strips and sentence puzzles

  • Blank templates for adding your own real-life photos

Use the illustrated scenes to practice sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary and picture description. Add photos of familiar people, places and experiences to personalise the activities for the children you work with.
